WILLOSPON

Willospon®, a sterile, absorbable gelatin sponge with excellent haemostatic properties

For more than 50 years, Willospon® gelatin sponge has proven its excellent haemostatic properties in all surgical procedures and in wound healing. Prepared as sterile, absorbable sponges, Willospon® allows control of blood oozing when conventional haemostasis is difficult to achieve and when the use of non-absorbable material is not desirable.

As the Willospon® sponge is pre-sterilised with gamma rays, it should not be re-sterilised. The final packaging is double-wrapped to ensure sterility in the operating room and is ready for use by the surgeon, who can pick it up with instruments and/or dry sterile gloves. The sponge can be easily cut and adjusted to the area of bleeding and can be applied directly to the wound by simply pressing. The origin and extent of the bleeding will determine the precise duration of application and the number of sponges required to ensure haemostasis.

For wound treatment
In the treatment of wounds, ulcers should be debrided first. Willospon® can then be applied in the desired size, with or without specific solutions

As a drug application vehicle
Willospon® can be used in combination with antibiotics, chemotherapeutic agents or thrombin without affecting its haemostatic properties.

Customer Survey

As part of the Medical Device Regulation, established by the European Union to ensure the safety, quality, and performance of medical devices throughout their lifecycle, we ask all our customers to participate in our Post-Marketing-Surveillance (PMS). This PMS is used to monitor the safety and effectiveness of our products after they have been approved and released into the market. We collect and analyse data on adverse events and product performance from real-world use to ensure ongoing safety and to identify any potential risks or issues.
